Hi there—so sorry your cookies didn’t work out. This base recipe from America’s Test Kitchen is one of my go-to recipes and I’ve never had it fail on me! I can’t claim to pinpoint exactly what went wrong without being there, but I would hypothesize that the calibration of your oven is off or for some reason, the do/mp/hanuroog/whatever was too hot. I’d implore you to try again, armed with an oven thermometer—and perhaps try chilling the dough before baking—because these really are some of the best cookies ever. Again, sorry they didn’t work out for you!
